Hisako Ogata

Hisako "Shirley" Ogata, 94, of Keauhou Mauka, died March 21 at her residence. Born Aug. 29, 1916, in Kahului, Maui, she was a proprietress of K. Ogata Store, worked for K. Oue Ltd. and was a member of the Kona Hongwanji Mission and Keauhou Kumiai.

Private services were held. Family requests flowers and monetary donations be omitted.

She is survived by daughter, Karen (Minoru) Tashima, of Keauhou Mauka; sons, Wayne (Arlene) Ogata, of Holualoa, Earl (Kathryn) Ogata, of Kealakekua; brother, Yoshio (Gail) Kohama, of Kahului, Maui; sisters, Shizuko Kohama, of Kahului, Maui, Jane (Albert) Ikeda, of Kealakekua, Ione (Dwight) Muranaka, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one aunt; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rohilio Tayan

Rohilio "Lane" Tayan, 69, of Halaula, died March 26 at his residence. Born Dec. 1, 1941, in North Kohala, he was a retired maintenance supervisor for Mauna Lani Resort.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 4 at Sacred Heart Church in Hawi for a 10 a.m. service.

He is survived by companion, Thanya Kaoo, of Halaula; daughters, Leah (Chad Adkins) Tayan-Adkins, of West Virginia, Dawn Tayan, of Ainakea; sisters, Josephine (Henry) Magno, of Hilo, Ann Chock, of Honolulu; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
