Florence Aguiar

Florence Rita Aguiar, 87, of Hilo, died July 7 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born Nov. 2, 1923, in Hilo, she was a housewife and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Friends may also call at 10 a.m. July 16 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1 for a graveside urn committal service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Donna (Richard) Mount, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Garvie (Patricia) Bracknell, of Mesquite, Nev., Gordon (Donnie) Bracknell, of Keaau, Leroy Aguiar, of Hilo, Bradley Aguiar, of Hawaiian Paradise Park; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alfred Manthei

Alfred John Manthei, 73, of Keaau, died July 10 at a care home. Born Dec. 12, 1937, in Honolulu, he was a retired plumber, member of the VFW Post 3830 Pahoa and Army veteran.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 16 at 15-1874 25th Okika St. in Keaau for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by daughters, Christine Keb, Nadine (Samuela) Tatofi, both of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Howard (Charlotte) Manthei, of Kaneohe, Oahu, Robert Manthei, Don Manthei, Dennis Awa, Timothy Gonzalez, Ronald Gonzalez, Danelle Flores, Tex Flores, all of Hawaii; sisters, Faye Stapleton, of California, Petrona Harrell, Leslie Cazinha, Vaudine Gonzalez , Oveta Gonzalez, Lucia Gonzalez, all of Hawaii; three grandchildren.

Vera Davis

Vera Veronica Davis, 50, of Kailua-Kona, died July 6 in Honolulu. Born Jan. 29, 1961, in Molokai, she was a Polynesia entertainer.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 17 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a service.

She is survived by husband, Emil Davis III; sons, Aaron Cool, Allan Cool; daughters, Lealofitaute Soares, Ashley Cool; parents, Richard Soares Sr. and Susie Shafer; brothers, Michael Malala, Richard Soares Jr.; sisters, Debra Kamohai, Sonia Soares, Tracy Iseke, Dolores Soares; four grandchildren.

Stanley Hara

Stanley Shoichi Hara, 72, of Kurtistown, died June 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 1, 1939, in Hilo, he was a retired meat inspector from the State Department of Agriculture, commercial fisherman, Army veteran and member of Community of Christ.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. July 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Judith Hara, of Kurtistown; son, Jordan (Lori) Hara, of Kurtistown; daughter, Sherelyn (Glen) Darling, of Edmonton, Canada; brothers, Craig (Hannah) Hara, of Kurtistown, Kenneth (Barbara) Saito, of Hilo; sisters, May Occhipinti, of San Francisco, Frances (Jesse) McNellis, of Lawrence, Kan., Ethel (Richard) Radowicz, of Carmel, Calif., Sylvia Donovan, of Corvallis, Ore.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike Maddison, 43, of Honokaa, is survived by wife, Sela Maddison.
