Masao Endo

Masao "Masa" Endo, 78, of Waimea, died July 26 at his residence. Born March 10, 1933, in Pepeekeo, he retired from Hawaiian Dredging Co. and was a member of Kamuela American Japanese Civic Association.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Joan Endo, of Waimea; daughters, Caryn (Kevin) Sumic, of North Carolina, Joy (Edward) Hoyle, of Abilene, Texas; son, Mark Endo, of San Pedro, Calif.; brother, George (Thu) Endo, of Honolulu; sister, Haruko Kanayama, of Kaneohe, Oahu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joan Stark

Joan Evelyn Stark, 76, of Kailua-Kona, died July 20 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Dec. 10, 1934, in Brigham City, Utah, she was retired and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Smithsonian Institute, Lighting Institute of America, the Artists Guild of Hawaii and Arizona and the Worldwide Travel Association.

Private services were held. Memorial donations may be made to any hospice organization.

She is survived by sister, Barbara (Dennis) Morrison, of Glendale, Ariz.; son, Guy (Yuka) Layne, of Osaka, Japan; stepsister, Linda Arnold, of Auburn, Calif.; two grandchildren; a niece and nephew.

Leonard Roberts

Judge Leonard F. Roberts, 88, of Kailua-Kona, died July 24. Born Aug. 9, 1922, in Mississippi, he was a retired federal administrative judge, World War II Army Air Corps veteran, held multiple assignments with the Air Force before being promoted to colonel, volunteered with Texas State Area Agency on Aging, the AARP, the Senior Citizens Alliance of Tarrant county and volunteered free legal guidance through the pro bono program of West Texas Legal Service.

He is survived by wife, Joann Roberts, of Kailua-Kona; children, Raymond Roberts, of Hurst, Texas, Frances (Paul) Bennett, of Volcano, Denise (Raymond) Sanders, of Kailua-Kona; brothers, James Roberts, of Brandon, Miss., Gilbert Roberts, of Pasadena, Texas; sister, Mary Cook, of Selma, Ala.; one grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy Angelo

Peggy Ann Angelo, 73, of Honokaa, died July 30 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired registered nurse at Kuakini Hospital and Hale Hoola Hamakua.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, Stanley Angelo; brother, Alan Gaylord, of Honolulu; sisters, Gertrude Zartman, of Texas, Lilian Henriques, of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Malulani Crosson

Malulani Crosson, of Waimea, died July 29.

He is survived by parents, Malia Carvalho and Ben Crosson, of Kamuela.
